Prediman Shah, MD, MACC

Ma Family Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Shah has been Professor of Medicine at UCLA’s Geffen School of Medicine since 1992.  He is currently Shapell and Webb Family Chair in Clinical Cardiology; Director,Oppenheimer Atherosclerosis Research Center; and Director, Atherosclerosis Prevention andManagement Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he was formerly the Chief of Cardiology.  Dr. Shah is an acclaimed clinician, teacher, and a pioneer in atherosclerosis basic research. His Lab is credited with discovering the ApoA-I Milano apolipoprotein, and is currently investigating its potential as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of atherosclerosis.  His lab is also investigating the potential role of vaccines in the treatment of coronary disease and hypertension.

Dr. Chen is director of Cedars- Sinai’s Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Chen’s role at Cedars during COVID brings us a unique perspective. Pivoting from research scientist to clinician in an instant, he has captured news headlines worldwide. He will share his experience fighting COVID and his research findings on the impact of the pandemic disease on heart health.
